5 Pencil Babies in Treatment
Today we were brought for treatment of the 5th pencil babies with infectious rhinotracheitis (aka feline herpesvirus) and dermatophytosis (aka common cat lichen).
Now they are waiting for a long course of treatment.
Feline Calici Virus in kittens
Today at the reception there were kittens who had ulcers on the mucous membrane of the tongue, which is one of the characteristic signs of a viral infection of cats, namely, calicivirus.( Feline Calici Virus).

A couple of days ago, the owners of the cat Matilda contacted us, in which they noticed pink urine. Ultrasound revealed the presence of multiple uroliths.
Today, we were brought for treatment of 5 kids – pencils with infectious rhinotracheitis (aka feline herpesvirus) and dermatophytosis (aka lichen of cats in the common people). Now they are waiting for a long course of treatment.
Everything would be fine, BUT, before coming to us, eye drops were dripped into the eyes of these poor fellowsМAXITROL which contain a glucocorticoid (aka a hormone) – and this ПРОТИВОПОКАЗАНО in the treatment of conjunctivitis caused by an infectious process.
Well, you can’t drip drops with hormones to cats, especially kittens, in which this is a clear infectious process !!!
And, the use of such drops only pushes the virus deeper into the conjunctiva and worsens the treatment process or leads to a lack of results. Please remember that 99% of conjunctivitis in cats (and especially in kittens) is of viral or bacterial origin, and treatment with hormone-containing drugs is CONTRAINDICATED!
And now our kids are waiting for a long course of an antiviral drug and treatment for dermatophytosis.
