Helminthiasis is one of the most common problems in domestic animals. Worms are periodically found in 80% of cats, regardless of their diet and access to the outdoors. Ring worms in cats treatment involves antifungal medications and proper hygiene practices to manage and eliminate the fungal infection. Certainly, outdoor roaming and a raw meat diet or fish consumption increase the risk of parasites in cats. However, helminthiasis can develop in an ordinary indoor pet that never goes outside and exclusively eats dry food. Worm treatment for cats is essential to maintaining their health and preventing severe complications. Cat parasite treatment is necessary to eliminate these infections and prevent them from spreading. Additionally, kitten parasite treatment is particularly important, as young cats are more susceptible to these parasites and can suffer from severe symptoms if left untreated.

Symptoms of worms in cats

The symptoms of worm infestations depend on the type of parasites, their location, and the severity of the disease. Usually, at the early stage of the disease, worms do not bother the pet, but over time, they can cause:

  • Poor appetite, pain in the stomach, digestive tract disturbances, vomiting, and constipation
  • Coughing fits (a common sign of ascarid infestation)
  • Pathological enlargement of the liver, jaundice
  • Anemia, which is often observed in kittens.
  • Changes in the quality of fur, losing its shine and forming mats.
  • Discomfort in the anal area, manifested by frequent licking.
  • Rash and hair loss in the anal area
  • Abdominal swelling.

The appearance of any of these symptoms requires seeking medical attention. Lack of treatment for helminthiasis can lead to paralysis and even the death of the animal.

Where is the treatment for helminthiasis in cats performed?

Diagnosing and treating parasites in Tallinn is carried out at the Haabersti Loomakliinik veterinary clinic. We help deal with various types of worms, including lungworms, tapeworms, flukes, and roundworms. Veterinarians help choose the right prevention measures for hookworms and other parasite infestations in kittens. It is given regularly. If the animal does not have access to the outdoors and is fed factory-made food, the medication is administered 1-2 times a year. For pets that are fed raw by-products or meat and walk outdoors, the remedy is given once a quarter.

If giardia in your friend appears, the specialists at Haabersti Loomakliinik in Tallinn will help get rid of it in record time. Our veterinarians will also help eliminate lungworms, trichuris, and the consequences of their vital activity. Treatment protocols for ascariasis in cats and therapy for other worm infestations take a little time. However, in cases of severe infection, it is carried out exclusively under the supervision of a doctor to prevent complications.
We guarantee a professional approach and affordable costs for deworming and other veterinary procedures. Prices depend on the complexity and severity of the disease.
